Moon Rabbit by Natalie Russell 2009
A petite White Rabbit loves her life in the city, but feels lonely, and wants to find a rabbit friend to share the wonders of the city with. She is drawn into the city park by the sound of beautiful music. A Brown Rabbit is playing a song on his guitar. The two bunnies cavort through the park and have a delightful time together. But soon White Rabbit is missing the bustle of the city. Her farewell is not a sad one, because another visit with Brown Rabbit is forthcoming, this time on her turf.
The joys of friendship, and the importance of being oneself is explored here in a sweet and subtle way. Perhaps even more memorable are the lush and dreamy illustrations by Russell.
Appropriate for ages 4-8
